Chetan Sakariya Wiki/Biography

Chetan Sakariya was born on 28 February 1998 (age 23 as of 2021) in Bhavnagar. He is a young enthusiast bowler presently playing for Rajasthan Royals in 2021. It is his debut team in IPL 2021 and the franchise signed him for an amount of INR 1.2 Crores. Despite very downs, he made a very strong comeback, few months back his brother committed suicide and had a lot of family pressure. Now he and his family will be very much relieved by the efforts of the young star.

Chetan Sakariya Mother spoke about the incident that happened when he was playing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy:-

“I hope nobody goes through the pain and struggles we went through. My second child, a son who was a year younger to Chetan, committed suicide a month ago. Chetan was playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at that time, which he finished as the sixth-highest wicket-taker. We didn’t inform him about his brother’s death for the first 10 days as we didn’t want his game to be affected. All we told him was that his father wasn’t keeping well.

Every time Chetan would call to ask about his father’s health, he would ask us to make him speak to his brother. But I’d change the topic. I wouldn’t let him speak to his father too because I knew my husband would tell him the truth. But one day, I broke down on the call. After knowing of his brother’s death, Chetan didn’t speak to anybody for a week. Neither did he eat. The two brothers were very close,” Chetan Sakariya’s mother said in an interview with Around the Wicket.

Domestic Cricket

Chetan Sakariya made his debut in List-A cricket for Saurashtra in 2017-2018 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He played his first match on 22nd February 2018. 

Chetan Sakariya made his First Class Cricket debut on 20th November 2018. He took a five-wicket haul in the very first innings of his debut match.

Further, he made his T-20 debut in 2018-2019 for Saurashtra in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 21st February 2019.

Indian Premier League (IPL)

Chetan Sakariya made his debut in IPL on 12th April 2021 for Rajasthan Royals against Punjab Kings. On his debut, he took 3 wickets and his bowling figure was 4-31-3.
